Here are our favorite articles, listciles, and book recommendations this week in the vast world of YA writing. We’re wandering around the Internet so you don’t have to.

If you have ever been in a freshman English class, you’re at least a little bit familiar with our old friend William Shakespeare. This article gives YA reading recommendations to some of their favorite Shakespeare characters. They not only direct the recommendation to that specific character, but how the book will help them.

Going from the comfort of high school to college is a big step. This article by Piper Jeanne tells her own personal experience with a gap year in Southeast Asia, and how it transformed her life.

The good folks at Mashable read are conducting a poll of the best YA series in order to create a March Madness style bracket. Put in your vote, stand by your series, and be on the look out for the bracket in the next couple of weeks.

While Suzanne Collins was being honored at the Authors Guild Dinner in New York, she and a couple of our favorite authors spoke about why YA literature is so important. One of my favorite quotes from the article comes from Rick Riordan: “Teachers and books are a lot alike. It only takes one — the right one at the right time — to change a life.”
