As we approach the official start of summer, The Passed Note team is determined to roam all four corners of the Internet to bring to our readers the very best in young adult book releases, writing tips, and news.

Summer means tans, ice cream cones, and, our favorite: days of reading books outside. If you need to add to your TBR pile, check out the always reliable Barnes and Noble list of June releases. We know we’ll be snagging a few of these titles!

While we are on the subject of new releases, we stumbled across this article from Forbes.  Jennifer Baker discusses how women authors are holding fast to the top ten slots on New York Times best selling list for YA hardcover books. Recognize any favorites off from this list?

With the runaway bestseller Me Before You leaping from page to screen, we have found ourselves thinking about other book to movie adaptations. The folks at MSN compiled a list of the top ten YA film adaptations of this century.

Julie Kagawa, author of the Iron Fey series, used  AltspaceVR to hold a virtual reading. Using this technology, she was able to send an avatar into virtual reality, read and answer questions from fans. We’ll be keeping an eye out for other digitally immersive events like this in the future.

This week, we found ourselves laughing at Epic Read’s list of problems only YA characters understand. Get ready for a good, ol’ fashioned belly laugh.
After nail-biting suspense, Mashable has determined the winner of the #OneTrueYA bracket.
